How do you calculate a salary increment? Multiply your current salary by (1 + increment % ÷ 100). A 4% increment on AED 15,000 a month is AED 600, for a new salary of AED 15,600 a month. To find the percentage, subtract old pay from new pay, divide by old pay and multiply by 100.
How to calculate a increment
Increment % = (New salary − Old salary) ÷ Old salary × 100
New salary = Old salary × (1 + Increment % ÷ 100)
Worked example
Your monthly salary is AED 15,000 and you get a 4% increment. Multiply AED 15,000 by 1.04: your new monthly salary is AED 15,600, which is AED 600 more a month.
Going the other way, a monthly salary that rises from AED 20,000 to AED 21,000 is a 5% increment: (AED 21,000 − AED 20,000) ÷ AED 20,000 × 100.

Increment and take-home pay in the UAE
The UAE has no personal income tax, so your take-home pay rises by close to the full increment. Social insurance or pension contributions apply to nationals and are the main deduction.
Check which part of your package the increment applies to. Many employers raise basic salary and allowances (housing, transport) separately, and a raise in basic salary also raises your end of service gratuity, which is calculated on basic salary. Work out the new amount with the The UAE gratuity calculator.
