How do you work out a pay rise? Multiply your current salary by (1 + pay rise % ÷ 100). A 3% pay rise on €50,000 is €1,500, for a new salary of €51,500. To find the percentage, subtract old pay from new pay, divide by old pay and multiply by 100.
How to calculate a pay rise
Pay rise % = (New salary − Old salary) ÷ Old salary × 100
New salary = Old salary × (1 + Pay rise % ÷ 100)
Worked example
Your annual salary is €50,000 and you get a 3% pay rise. Multiply €50,000 by 1.03: your new annual salary is €51,500, which is €1,500 more a year or €125 a month.
Going the other way, a annual salary that rises from €40,000 to €41,200 is a 3% pay rise: (€41,200 − €40,000) ÷ €40,000 × 100.
