How do you calculate a raise in Canada? Multiply your current salary by (1 + raise % ÷ 100). A 3% raise on C$65,000 is C$1,950, for a new salary of C$66,950. To find the percentage, subtract old pay from new pay, divide by old pay and multiply by 100.
How to calculate a raise
Raise % = (New salary − Old salary) ÷ Old salary × 100
New salary = Old salary × (1 + Raise % ÷ 100)
Worked example
Your annual salary is C$65,000 and you get a 3% raise. Multiply C$65,000 by 1.03: your new annual salary is C$66,950, which is C$1,950 more a year or C$162 a month.
Going the other way, a annual salary that rises from C$80,000 to C$83,200 is a 4% raise: (C$83,200 − C$80,000) ÷ C$80,000 × 100.
